We are pleased to announce another important milestone for the WSI. The CGSB have confirmed the inclusion of ASTM D8073 (IP624) in Table 1 (mandatory) of the Canadian Jet fuel specification, CGSB 3.23-2019.

The D-2 Inc. CTD is currently undergoing Sea Trials on the WHOI Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. So far the data and the trials have been going extremely well, and the data is correlating perfectly. The D-2 Inc. CTD is working at depth in the Ocean, which is the ultimate test for any new technology, to work with precision in the field. Not only is our equipment working, but it is now the best equipment and technology in the market.
The CTD itself is very compact and can be added to almost any system, as shown below it is just strapped to a rosette. The D-2 CTD uses a new hybrid conductivity sensor technology that allows us to not require a pump to flush the conductivity cell, it is free flushing. Which makes it easier to mount our CTD in unique ways such as below on this rosette strapped vertically.

The above sea trials are currently still under way. Once they are completed we will share the data set with everyone in a post on this website, so stay tuned for more information. However it can be said the data looks really good, and these CTD’s are now 100% ready for market wide adoption.
We have been shipping these units for various commercial and military projects. Last month we delivered 8 CTD Units to the United States Navy and the Office of Naval Research.

D-2 Incorporated has remained 100% operational during the current pandemic. As ordered by the Under Secretary of Defense as a critical part of the defense industrial base we maintained 100% operational capacity. We have instituted the Massachusetts mandates and have not had 1 single sick day due to Corona Virus. We were able to update our facility, and maintain a healthy work staff during this entire pandemic thus far.
Thanks to our spectacular customers we have been able to maintain 100% of our staff, including staff added in the past year. Our company has doubled in terms of staff recently, and despite the shutdown, we have been able to maintain our new larger size. Most businesses have had to reduce personnel, however we have not and we are very proud of that fact.
During this shutdown D-2 Inc. has continued to grow into new markets and bring forth new technology. Unhindered by the shutdown constraining most companies and slowing innovation, we used the downtime to increase innovation and wrap up development of equipment such as our new line of Oceanographic Sensors. We continue to be an American High Tech Manufacturing Company that is on the cutting edge of developing new technology for the markets we proudly serve.
The D-2 Incorporated line of CTD sensors for the Oceanography Industry have been undergoing field testing with WHOI for a few months. The results have been extremely impressive, showing proof that our new CTD technology is working, even at extreme depths up to 10,000 Meters Deep. The data when compared to older equipment in the industry, has shown even more precise data, but also is giving very similar results to equipment that has been used in the industry as a standard for years. Thus proving the CTD’s are providing accurate data when compared to industry standards.
The Oceanographic Community has been adopting the CTD into the array of sensors they use to measure the world’s oceans. We have delivered a recent order of these CTD’s to the Office Of Naval Research, and also to multiple Oceanographic Institutes including our last order was shipped to China. So already the new CTD technology is out in the field operating well and providing extremely accurate results for scientific research on a global level.
The CTD we provide that uses a Hybrid Conductivity sensor, is ideal for the “Ocean of Things”. D-2 provides a CTD for UUV / AUV’s that is built for use in Arctic Environments, and does not require a pump to flush the sensor. This means our equipment is ideal for use by AUV’s and UUV’s, as the sensor is very compact, uses low power and has no pump needed. This makes it much easier to add to any existing or new platforms. Also the unit being designed and tested for arctic environments is important, as the Arctic Circle has become a hot spot of military activity.
D-2 Inc also provides a more cost effective solution for shallow water applications that provides conductivity and temperature measurement. This “OCT” Ocean Conductivity sensor is ideal for a variety of applications, especially the “Ocean of Things” implementation as the extremely precise equipment is built for a low cost, and provides very accurate conductivity measurement in a very small housing, and it requires very little power.
As you can see from the image of the OCT sensor above, it is a very compact unit that can be easily added to almost any platform. Such as the large catalog of oceanographic and military equipment that will be operating in shallow water environments anywhere in the world, from the arctic ocean to the tropics. Any application you can think of for Ocean Conductivity (Salinity), Temp and Depth, we have a CTD or a OCT sensor that can provide you the accurate data you require.

D-2 Inc. has provided the Oceanography Industry with a brand new cost effective inductive conductivity sensor and temperature sensor for the oceanography industry. We have now officially shipped multiple units to various clientele from around the world and have seen positive results from the field. These sensors are for use in shallow water applications and surface applications. Perfect for incorporation into the “Ocean of Things” project.
The Ocean CT sensors have now been installed at multiple locations, and in some applications have been in operation for over a year. We now have a solid track record of these instruments working in a field environment, which provides different challenges than being in a lab environment.

The D-2 Inc. CTD is the first new CTD measurement technology to be introduced to the Oceanographic Industry in over 30 years. Specifically designed for increased precision, ease of use, low power and smaller size. This device is perfect for UUV / AUV applications and has been in ongoing testing in the Arctic Environment by WHOI for over a year, and those tests are continuing.
The CTD comes in multiple configurations, including inside titanium housing for full ocean depth measurement. The precision is world class at .001 mS/cm precision and resolution.
The new CTD technology allows for free flushing of the sensor electrode, no longer is a pump required to flush the sensor. This saves on power and size, making the D-2 Inc. CTD better suited for AUV / UUV vehicles and the Arctic Environment it is designed for.

The company demonstrated its WSI (ASTM D8073) Instrument at the event exhibition. A paper titled “ADVANCES IN AVIATION FUEL WATER SEPARATION TESTING, Historic Perspective – Current Developments” was presented the 1st day of the conference by Alan Fougere, President of D-2 Incorporated.
D-2 Inc. will next be at the ASTM D02 Meeting in New Orleans in early December.
D-2 Incorporated has acquired a new 13,500 sqft (1250 m^3) manufacturing facility. The larger building will assist D-2 in its continuing growth as a leader in innovative fuel testing equipment. The new 5X larger facility will help improve product production, and also will have a brand new state of the art fuel testing laboratory. D-2 has gained town planning board approval in early August for the fuel testing laboratory on the premises. Sale was closed in Early September. The new facility at 6 Otis Park Drive, Bourne, MA 02532 is ~ 4 miles from our existing location. The company looks to be fully moved and operational in the new building starting the 1st of October.

The History of the Facility…
The 13, 500 square foot facility was originally built by Robert Ballard, famous for finding the remnants of the Titanic, the Bismarck, and the USS Yorktown. Ballard started an oceanographic company in the building.
D-2 Incorporated is now entering into the oceanographic sensor industry once again. With a brand new CTD technology designed for the UUV / AUV market. Oceanography has been waiting for a brand new way to measure deep ocean water conductivity, and it has arrived. With the new larger building we will be continuing on as the leader for conductivity and free water measurement of oil and gas, while now expanding into the Oceanographic market with our brand new patented CTD technology that will change the face of the oceanographic market.
D-2 Inc. is pleased to announce the Air Force designation Hydro-Light, the JF-WA1-AF has now received a National Stock Number NSN number. The JF-WA1-AF NSN number is 6640-01-680-6773.
The JF-WA1-AF is the Hydro-Light Free Water Detector with an Air Force Designation. This unit is used to run ASTM Test D3240 which determines the free water present in aviation kerosene aka jet fuel. The JF-WA1-AF will provide a digital readout of the free water in parts per million.
The JF-WA1-AF is a highly successful and heavily field tested piece of equipment under the designation JF-WA1-N, as every US Naval Surface Ship and Naval Air Station already uses the JF-WA1-N (same exact equipment as the -AF designation). So the end users can be assured that the Hydro-Light technology is field tested, easy to use, reliable and accurate.
The JF-WA1-AF ensures the fuel that the US Military is putting into it’s Air Force Aircraft is free of free water, and does so far more accurately and easily than any other test method available.
This means the JF-WA1-AF can be procured through the NSN number for easier purchasing for major agencies such as the DLA, and the various Air Force Bases around the world that will be using this equipment.
At the recent DLA Worldwide Energy Conference we discussed with many of the Air Force Personnel the need for a field calibration kit, this will be something we look to add in the future.
